Puddle Pet Care was formed in January 2001 after owners Kathy & Steve Newman escaped the rat race of London and moved to the sea-side village of Selsey in West Sussex. For the first year they ran a local delivery service, but in January 2001 decided to try this new “selling on-line” thing that was happening and have never looked back!

Along with the human team here we also have a number of 4 legged helpers – currently Splash, Gem, Sally & Kirrie the Border Collies whose ages range from 3 to 16 years old and Nadia, Fitz & Charlie the cats. All of the 4 legged ones are always more than happy to test out any of the products we sell. You can find out more about them on our Meet The Team page. You will find through the website some of their favourites and their own reviews along with pictures of them using some products and even video clips. We also welcome your pet’s reviews of products and pictures of them as well.

We have always been a nation of pet lovers and over recent years the number of pets owned has increased. The UK census information and mid-year population estimates of the number of households and the average household size in 2006 in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland were used to estimate that UK households owned approximately 10.3 million cats and 10.5 million dogs in 2006 – that’s one heck of a lot of dogs & cats!

Pets are featured much more In the media than they were – gone are the days when the only famous pets where either on Blue Peter or the Andrex adverts! We now have shows featuring celebrity vets such as Marc Abraham and Joe Inglis, programmes about training vets, the work rescue centres do and many more.

As a nation we are now much more aware of our pets needs and you will now find a vast array of products available to keep your pets happy, healthy & pampered. At Puddle Pet Care we are constantly adding to the products we sell and keep up to date with the latest toys & gadgets that are available. We however will only sell products which we would be happy to use with our own pets.

One big growing product range is Dog Beds & Cat Beds. We all love to curl up on a comfy sofa or bed so why shouldn’t our pets. We stock beds in all sorts of shapes & sizes, duvets, slumber beds, hooded beds, all available in a range of sizes & designs/colours – there is bound to be something to suit. We want your pets to be comfortable just like you do, that’s why we stock various dog and cat beds at great prices. Our dog beds and cat beds are available in a range of different styles and sizes ensuring your pets have the perfect place to rest and sleep.

Since our launch back in 2000 we have always strived to offer the best products at the best prices whilst maintaining focus on excellent customer service. One of the consistently popular types of product we offer is our range water fountains for cats and dogs. With brands such as Drinkwell, Petmate and more recently Pioneer Pets’ new Rain Drop range fountains come in a variety of sizes, styles and prices allowing any pet household to find something suitable. All of these Pet Fountains help keep your pet’s water clean and fresh by using replaceable filter cartridges and keep the water cool through constant circulation. The water capacity on many is increase through the use of a reservoir which means less refilling for you.

Pet products have developed significantly over the years and the last 11+ years that Puddle Pet Care has been trading is now different. The range of toys available for dogs has increased with many now offering much more mental stimulation and requiring dog and owner to work together as a team. These tie in perfectly with the preferred reward based training method now recommended by many animal behaviourists.

To that end you will also find plenty of treats on our website suitable for simple bonus tit bits or for use when actively training. Clicker training is our favourite and is an excellent tool that works so well with our Border Collies who are always keen to learn new tricks.

Technology hasn’t left the cats behind either with them benefitting from new models of cat flap which can allow you to control their comings and goings more effeectivley. An example of this is the Cat Mate Elite range which lets you determine what hours of the day your cats can enter or exit the flap.

Developments in Cat Litters have come along too with one of the most effective in our opinion being World’s Best Cat Litter which is made from whole kernel corn. In use it is really effective at clumping and absorbing liquid waste and helps reduce odours.

A problem which can occur in any household with especially young or old animals is soiling in the house. House training is an important part of having a new puppy or kitten but when the inevitable does happen products such as the Urine Off range have been scientifically researched and developed to deal with these accidents. The Urine Finder Torch will allow you to find the root of the problem by helping you detect dried urine and Urine Off spray will then deal effectively with the stain and odour. This also contains pheromones to help deter your pet from going there again.
